Research-only laboratory toolkit

Lab Tools Pro

A precise bench companion for routine research math, protocol timing, reference lookup, and notebook capture across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.

  • 139 research calculators built on high-precision arithmetic
  • 140+ guided protocols with step timers and bench presets
  • Lab notebook, references, and PubMed search in one place

Built by Dr. Shankar Dutt of DuttLabs, a working scientist who wanted bench math that is fast, exact, and stays on the device.

Lab Tools Pro is for research and education only. It is not for diagnosis, treatment, patient care, patient dosing, or regulated scientific decision making. Verify critical calculations independently before use.

Inside the app

A coherent workflow from bench math to timed protocols

The interface keeps calculations, protocols, references, and timers close together, with focused screens for each part of routine lab work.

Calculators screen in Lab Tools Pro
Calculators Run dilution, molarity, unit, and assay calculations without leaving the bench.
Protocol screen in Lab Tools Pro
Protocols Follow structured steps for routine molecular biology and cell culture work.
Reference screen in Lab Tools Pro
References Look up enzymes, ladders, amino acids, codons, and PubMed citations from the app.
Timer screen in Lab Tools Pro
Timers Coordinate quick timers, stopwatch work, and routine lab presets.

Questions

Honest answers before you commit

A few common questions about access, devices, privacy, and what Lab Tools Pro is and is not for.

Is there a free version?

There is no permanent free tier. Lab Tools Pro is a paid app with a hard paywall, but you can try a free, fully functional calculator preview inside the app before you pay. The monthly and yearly subscriptions also each include a 7-day free trial, so you can use the full app at no cost for the first week and cancel any time before it ends.

Which devices does it run on?

Lab Tools Pro runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. A single purchase covers all of them when you are signed in with the same Apple ID.

Does my data sync, and is it private?

The app is local-first. Calculations, notebook entries, custom protocols, and timers are processed on your device. Optional iCloud sync, which you can turn on or off, keeps supported data current across your devices through your private Apple account. There are no advertising or tracking SDKs.

How do refunds and cancellations work?

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. You can cancel a subscription any time from your Apple ID settings, and you can request a refund through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Lifetime access can be restored on any device with the same Apple ID.

Can I use it offline?

Yes. Calculators, bundled references, protocols, notebook entries, and timers work without a connection. PubMed search, optional ELN export, and iCloud sync need internet access.

Can I use it for clinical or diagnostic work?

No. Lab Tools Pro is for research and education only. It is not for diagnosis, treatment, patient care, patient dosing, or regulated decision making. Always verify critical calculations independently.

Privacy

Local-first by default

Calculator values, notebook entries, custom protocols, timers, and inventory data are processed on device. Optional services activate only when you use them.
